Tell Us Your Love Story
David and I met at the local gym. I worked there as a front desk girl and David often came in for his daily workouts. He was extremely shy and never said more than hi to me during our interactions. For months we spent our time admiring one another from afar until one day David showed up in my “suggested friends” section on Facebook and I quickly began plotting how I could “accidentally” bump into him on social media. That weekend I decided to muster up the courage to send him a message and there I sat, anxiously waiting for a response from this nerdy yet extremely attractive human being. We spent several weeks exchanging messages until he finally worked up the courage to ask me on a date. We spent the night at a local wine bar where we talked about personal futures and dreams and we spent the car ride home singing loudly to some radio jams. He walked me to my door, said goodnight; I knew I had found my best friend. I just knew that he would be my forever.
How did he put a ring on it?
It was a regular Friday evening in September. David had spent several months designing and finalizing the ring he wanted to propose to me with and it had been delivered on this particular Friday. I came home from a day of work followed by an hour at the gym, set my things down and David told me he had something he wanted to talk to me about. I walked over to the kitchen table, set my things down and turned around to David on one knee with a box in his hand. I was in complete and utter shock and had absolutely no idea I would become his fiancé on this day.
Where did you draw inspiration from?
I spent a great deal of time looking through various wedding themes and venues and I took a little piece of inspiration from various sources. I pieced together my favourite ideas and worked to combine them.
What was your wedding theme & style?
If I were to choose a wedding theme and style for our wedding I would have to label it as “Romantic”. I am a very simple person, as is David, and all we wanted was for it to proudly represent our relationship. We tried to keep the colors to red and gold.
What made the wedding personal to you?
Our wedding was relatively small with family and close friends which made the day that much more intimate.
What were you most nervous or excited about?
I was most nervous about our first look. In the limo on our way to Forest Park I could not stop smiling. I smiled the entire way to meet David and I was just completely and utterly happy. As I walked up to him from behind I began shaking uncontrollably but as soon as he turned around my nerves were gone…there stood my best friend and the man I will spend the rest of my life with.
Did you DIY any elements?
We spent a great deal of time creating the charger plates for the reception. We purchased the plates and then spray painted them with multiple coats in order to get the perfect gold. We as well spray painted the candle votives for those tables without flower arrangements.
Now, the most important part - the Dress!
Tell us about your dress?
I was one of the lucky individuals who had the opportunity to meet Randy during his time in St. Louis, Missouri. My dream had always been to travel to Kleinfeld with my family and some close friends and shop for the gown of my dreams and I made it very apparent that this was something that was going to happen. I suppose everyone took note of my desires and it wasn’t long before my mother-in-law notified me that Randy would be coming to our town in the recent months. I spent several hours researching his travels and attempting to schedule an appointment with him through Maiden Voyage Bridal Salon. Several hours later I received a return call with the wonderful news that I had secured an appointment with the infamous Randy Fenoli himself. Randy was one of the kindest individuals I had ever met and I couldn’t believe I was lucky enough to have the pleasure of spending time with him. I found a beautiful dress from his line that I immediately fell in love with. It had a deep V that I was rather concerned about and Randy told me not to worry. He asked one of the lovely ladies who had been helping me if she could find him a needle and some thread as Randy and I stood there looking in the mirror. He then proceeded to sew the dress up, while it was on me, and lessen the plunge of the V. It completely transformed my dress and soon thereafter we looked in the mirror as I said “Yes to the dress” and the entire salon cheered. I couldn’t have asked for a better day.

What was your experience like?
My experience was absolutely amazing. The staff was extremely helpful and I spent the afternoon with the beloved Randy Fenoli, what more could a girl ask for!
Where were your bridesmaid dresses from?
I only had a single bridesmaid, my best friend of 14 years Holly, and we selected her dress from David’s Bridal in Sunset Hills, MO.
What was your most memorable moment from your day? The most memorable moment I have is from the moment I turned to walk down the aisle and my eyes locked with David’s. I felt a rush of emotions knowing that soon I would be his forever.
What does marriage mean to you?
Marriage, to us, means letting go of your selfishness and whole heartedly committing yourself to one another. To change and to grow with one another despite the various hardships you will encounter.
Something New? My dress (duh).
Something Old? I had the lace removed from both my grandmothers wedding dress and my mothers wedding dress. This lace was then turned into a ring bearer pillow, which was extremely sentimental to me.
Something Borrowed? My grandmother allowed me to borrow her diamond bracelet to wear during our beautiful day.
Something Blue? My grandfather gave be a beautiful blue sapphire necklace as a present before the wedding, which covered both the something new, and something blue category.
Anything words of wisdom you can pass onto future brides & grooms?
Our good friends told us some time before our wedding to never leave each others side throughout the day and we couldn’t have been more thankful for such sound advice. We were able to enjoy the entire day together instead of being separated, this is especially important during the reception. Hold on to one another and remember what the day is truly about.
