Tell Us Your Love Story
We met at work. Alex is also a nurse but worked nightshift. He used to get the night shift charge nurse to give me all of his patients the next morning so he would have an excuse to talk to me. After about a month of flirting and telling that he was nervous, he finally asked for my number and took me out to dinner. We’ve been together ever since!
How did he put a ring on it?
His grandparents have a BEAUTIFUL cabin up in Mentone, AL. Alex drove us up there saying they were having a big anniversary party for his grandparents. However, when we got there, the walkway was paved with rose petals, candles, and photos of us. We walked down the walkway and he knelt down on his knee asking me to be his wife.
Where did you draw inspiration from?
I knew I always wanted a rustic wedding but still have a lot of tradition. I chose my venue because it was simplistic but beautiful. We didn’t have to add a lot of décor because the barn itself was decoration enough. I planned the details of my wedding from my venue and dress. Everything had to match those.
What was your wedding theme & style?
Rustic and traditional.
What made the wedding personal to you?
Once we had exchanged our vows, we took communion together as our first act as husband and wife. It is something I will always treasure.
What were you most nervous or excited about?
Nervous, the weather. Originally it was supposed to be outside but it rained! My excitement was knowing at the end of the day I would be married to my best friend.
Now, the most important part - the Dress!
It is a Randy Fenoli design. It reminds me of the victorian era almost. Honestly one of a kind and classic. I fell in love with the white lace and candlelight undertone of the gown and the fact that I had never seen anyone wear anything like it.
Where did you find it?
Bella’s Bridal; Hoover, AL
What was your experience like?
It was wonderful! My consultant, Carolyn, was the absolute best in helping me find my dream gown.
Where were your bridesmaid dresses from?
Bella’s Bridal; Hoover, AL
What was your most memorable moment from your day?
Most memorable moment is probably our first look. It was just the photographer and us. We were able to have this intimate moment where it was just us laughing and hugging one another, taking in everything, and talking about how excited we were. It was priceless.
What does marriage mean to you?
To constantly have someone to support you in all the seasons of life. It means so much to me that he will be there for me no matter what comes our way and love me through it all. I’ve always dreamed of having this kind of companionship.
Something New?
My wedding gown.
Something Old?
My Nana’s wedding ring.
Something Borrowed?
My Mema’s pearl necklace.
Something Blue?
My garter.
Anything words of wisdom you can pass onto future brides & grooms?
Stay true to yourself. Stay true to what you want out of your wedding and marriage. Don’t let the opinions of others get in the way of your happiness and dreams! It is worth it in the end!
